Formed in Pittsburgh, PA in 2016, Buffalo Rose blends folk, soul, and bluegrass into something amorphously Americana, but decidedly their own. Three prominent singers (Shane McLaughlin, Lucy Clabby, and Rosanna Spindler) provide stunning vocal harmonies over dynamic, engrossing layers of stringed instruments. Specifically, acoustic guitar (McLaughlin), upright bass (Jason Rafalak), mandolin (Bryce Rabideau), and dobro (Malcolm Inglis.) Their sharp sense of rhythmic experimentation and evocative, storytelling lyricism come together for a sound with both shimmer and punch; it’s foot-tapping and breathtaking in turn. Buffalo Rose offers a warm, passionate homage to America’s classic musical traditions, with modern twists that keep things interesting—and damn fun.

The band began to move in a modern, folk-pop direction with their single, 'Rocketship' released in March 2019.  Soon after, the band was featured on NPR All Songs Considered for their Tiny Desk submission of for their song ‘Born’, and began work on recording what would become the ‘Big Stampede’ EP, internationally released on MISRA Records in November of 2019.  Touring throughout the spring and summer in support of this release, the band continues to record and will be releasing a follow up full length in 2020.
