On March 11 we closed the doors to the Firehouse to do our part to practice social distancing and slow the spread of COVID-19. In a short time, we’ve transitioned to day-to-day lives most of us could not have imagined. Those of us with the option are staying home, while essential personnel are keeping us healthy and nourished. Community leaders are discovering the best way to keep our citizens safe and our economy afloat amidst unimaginable pressures, while parents are learning to work from home and become teachers at the same time. All of us are holding concern for family and loved ones from a distance. We are sharing a hard experience.
The sudden halt of our normal way of life has brought real hardship to our economy. The arts, being an industry that brings people together, is being hit hard. Artists and musicians and the venues and museums that feature them are searching for new ways to create community during this time when we are in such need of comfort and inspiration.
The staff and board at ātac have been humbled and grateful to receive your support through our GoFundMe. With your generous contributions, we are more than halfway toward our goal of $90,000. As uncertainty increases, your continued help has become even more precious and we are determined to find new ways to create community through the arts with you.
If you haven’t contributed already, and are in a position to do so, your support is needed and appreciated. Other ways you can help: spread the word, become or renew your membership, purchase gift cards or tickets for upcoming shows.
On behalf of the entire ātac family of members, musicians, visual artists, volunteers, staff, and board, I extend the most sincere and grateful thanks from the bottom of our hearts. It is a gift to be in community with you.
Stay safe, stay home, stay creative,
