Found Family with FHAM508

We had the chance to chat with two members of FHAM508, the Framingham-based collective and label ahead of their showcase at atac on Saturday, January 13th. Owskie and Leumas talk background, bests, and what to expect.

atac: Owskie, How did you navigate life growing up?

Owskie: I was a lost kid who didn’t know what ambitions I wanted to have in life and I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I was older

atac: When did you start making music, and how did you know it was something you wanted to continue to pursue?

O: 2018 when I made my first song, with 12xce. I knew it was something I wanted to pursue because it was something I really enjoyed and wanted to put the time and effort into music.

atac: Was there a point where you realized things were taking off?

O: Everything that happened between the years 2022 and 2023. I hit crazy numbers and shows-wise I did my thing. All the supporters really enjoyed me and my music!

atac: What advice do you have for the people out there, kids who might feel lost like you did?

O: Do whatever you desire to do in life and put all your time and effort into pursuing your dreams.

atac: What should people look forward to at the showcase?

O: They can expect lots of different things from me. They can expect an amazing show performance.

atac: Leumas, how do you think your early experience shaped you into the artist you are now?

Leumas: I grew up in Marlborough my whole life. I didn’t really have a lot of friends. I was kinda the awkward kid in school and tried to fit in and would even try to be someone I’m not and that made things worse.

atac: What was the initial response when you started releasing music?

L: When I dropped my first song I got a lot of positive feedback from people. At first, people were hesitant about the idea of me doing hiphop, but I got a lot of support from friends and family and grew a following. I love it, couldn’t ask for anything better!

atac: Do you have any advice for people who want to start making music?

L: Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something if you have a dream go make it a reality. You have one life, one chance to make something of yourself go do it.

atac: What's an experience that you are most proud of in your career so far?

L: Easily my favorite concert I went to was Lil Tjay on August 20th of 2021. I was one of the openers and I had the whole crowd waving flashlights. It was a really cool experience and I did it in front of my mom. That's something I get to carry with me for the rest of my life and career.

atac: Wow that sounds like a fun time! Have you ever had a moment where things didn’t go as planned?

L: I stopped making music for a while cause my former music partner and I fell off. I just focused on my mental health and kinda took a step back. Since then I’ve been having people ask me if I’ll be a solo artist and if I’ll still drop music. I had so many kids looking up to me I couldn’t give up on them cause it would go against what I stand for.

atac: That's a great way to look at things!  What would you say is your philosophy for life?

L: I love talking about what I want to accomplish. I try to speak things into existence.

atac: Finally, can you prepare people for what to expect at the showcase?

They can definitely expect to feel the emotion behind the songs. Whether it’s a hype song, sad song, or love song you’re gonna feel the emotion and energy behind it for sure!
